Legacy Tutorial

Equipping Today’s Students for Tomorrow’s Mission

Frequently Asked Questions

Legacy is a tutorial. What does that mean?

Students attend classes on Thursdays and come home with three days’ worth of assignments. Much of the new teaching is covered in class; labs are completed in groups with other students, and classes are set up to give students a positive classroom environment where they can be challenged and learn to work independently and with others.

As a parent of a student at Legacy, you are making a commitment to our teachers and students that you will oversee the work assigned at home and that your student will come to class prepared to participate. It creates a better classroom experience and allows our teachers to do their job well.

Can my student come to Legacy for just one class, or do they have to take all three?

Students must take at least two classes and are highly encouraged to attend all three. This allows them to build friendships and feel like they’re a part of the Legacy community.

How about lunch and free time on Thursdays?

We have built in a 50-minute lunch period to encourage friendships and fun. We understand how important healthy friendships are to teenagers and believe that is one of the many benefits of participating in a program like ours.

What time do classes start?

Our first class begins promptly at 8:45. Students are welcome to arrive at 8:30, allowing them to catch up with friends and get settled into their classroom before the first class begins.

What are the fees involved?

Registration fees for new families are $275/student. Registration fees cover rent, insurance, equipment purchases, taxes, and other operational costs. Current students pay a discounted registration.

Tuition is paid directly to the teachers and is $550/class for the entire school year. There are payment plans to choose from for your convenience.

Copy fees are $10/semester per class and help teachers cover some of their copy costs.

Science Lab fees of $65-75 are due at the start of the school year.

How do I know what curriculum to purchase?

After registering, each of your teachers will email you in June with important information about the class and links to order any curriculum you need for that particular class.

Do you have security in place?

Teachers are background-checked. Outside doors are locked, and cameras are present throughout the facility. We will not mention additional details for added safety, but you are more than welcome to ask personally if you want to know more. We understand that safety is important to you, and we take it seriously.

How do I apply or get more information?

There is a link at the top of this website for applying. It’s a simple form that begins the process. Once the application form is received, you will be contacted within a few business days to set up an informal interview with you and your student. This will allow you to ask questions and let all of us determine if Legacy may be a good fit for you. You are also welcome to ask questions by emailing us at legacyhendersonville@gmail.com
